Open Position: Vienna Lab Manager – QC & Downstream Processing
At Ribbon Biolabs we are taking synthetic biology to the next level!
Ribbon Biolabs is a small biotech company with locations in Vienna and in Klosterneuburg (outskirts of Vienna) developing the next technological wave of error-proof DNA synthesis. With our approach, we are developing a cost-efficient platform to produce long and complex DNA molecules, thereby enabling a new generation of biopharmaceutical processes and other synthetic biology products.
As an early-stage startup company with ambitious growth plans we are currently seeking to expand our team with a motivated and proactive Vienna Lab Manager – QC & Downstream Processing to facilitate our operations in Vienna (VLM).
As VLM, you will be responsible for establishing, managing and maintaining our new laboratory in Vienna, focused on quality control (QC) analytics and downstream production processes to our synthetic DNA R&D and production pipeline. The new lab in Vienna will have a crucial role for the translation of R&D outcome to the markets and our customers. Thereby, you will have the opportunity to enable our early customer business operations through ensuring adequate and high-quality QC and downstream processing to allow timely delivery of high-quality DNA products to our customers. You should combine demonstrated expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry or related areas, with proven expertise using relevant analytical techniques and instrumentation as well as laboratory management experience. Experience with DNA manipulation and analytical technologies in a scientific environment is a key requirement.
Ribbon Biolabs counts with multiple sources of funding including public grants and VC equity from tecnet equity and IST Cube (the investment fund of the world-renowned Institute of Science & Technology – IST Austria, ranked third worldwide by Nature in the “Nature Index 2019”). We are running a new, state-of-the art laboratory at IST Park in Klosterneuburg and our association with IST Austria allows for access to their scientific services and facilities. The new laboratory in Vienna will serve a key role in translating our R&D operations in Klosterneuburg into actionable products serving our customers worldwide.
The successful candidate will join a small, agile and interdisciplinary team as soon as possible. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the company and to live and work in or near the city of Vienna, which is repeatedly ranked by Mercer as the city with the highest quality of life in the world.
