Open Position: Computational Biology Developer
At Ribbon Biolabs we are taking synthetic biology to the next level!
Ribbon Biolabs is a biotech startup company with locations in Vienna and Klosterneuburg (outskirts of Vienna) developing the next technological wave of error-proof DNA synthesis. With our approach, we are developing a cost-efficient platform to produce long and complex DNA molecules, thereby enabling a new generation of biopharmaceuticals and other synthetic biology products.
As an early-stage startup company with ambitious growth plans we are currently seeking to expand our team with a motivated and proactive computational scientist to contribute to the company’s technology through the development of the advanced algorithmic core of its proprietary DNA Synthesis platform including robotic automation integration, high-throughput data analysis, machine learning and predictive modeling applications.
The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will focus on the development of advanced algorithms that combine bioinformatics, machine learning, simulations, and optimization to drive our DNA synthesis performance. It is required that the candidate has solid knowledge of biology (molecular biology, biophysics, etc.) as well as flawless coding standards, including comprehensive annotation, version control, etc. The work is highly integrated with other aspects of Ribbon’s technology (wet lab & hardware), so the candidate ought to be a flexible and adaptable team player with a cooperative attitude.
Ribbon Biolabs counts with multiple sources of funding including public grants and VC equity from tecnet equity and IST Cube (the investment fund of the world-renowned Institute of Science & Technology – IST Austria, ranked third worldwide by Nature in the “Nature Index 2019”). We are running a new, state-of-the art laboratory at IST Park in Klosterneuburg and our association with IST Austria allows for access to their scientific services and facilities. The new laboratory in Vienna will serve a key role in translating our R&D operations in Klosterneuburg into actionable products serving our customers worldwide.
The successful candidate will join a small but growing, agile and interdisciplinary team as soon as possible. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the company and to live and work in or near the city of Vienna, which is repeatedly ranked by Mercer as the city with the highest quality of life in the world.
